richie hawtin to use iphone app to interact with coachella audience

Richie Hawtin, under his Plastikman alter ego, will integrate his PLASTIKMAN SYNK app into his (sold-out) Coachella performance this weekend, a first for the DJ in the United States. The free app will involve audience participation among those who have downloaded it onto iPhones. I'm not really getting my head around what will happen between iPhone hipsters and Hawtin, but here's a video of the inaugural such performance in Germany last month.
