The organizers of the annual Hard Haunted Mansion party have answered the question of what they'll do for a venue following the debacle this summer at the Forum in which about 18,000 revelers were told by authorities to go home following unruliness at that venue. Promoter Gary Richards had said that his events were outgrowing their home venue, the Shrine Auditorium (with a capacity of about 5,000), but he's back, this time spreading his Haunted Mansion party across a Friday and Saturday.
Deadmau5, 2 Many DJs and A-Trak headline Friday while Justice, Basement Jaxx and Crookers provide the marquee entertainment on Saturday, which is Halloween night.
It'll be interesting to see if the move solves the Hard's capacity issues. On paper -- with room for 10,000 over two nights -- it doesn't seem to address the issue of 18,000 eager people showing up to check out the last event. Also, I can't imagine that other promoters that count on Halloween as a shoo-in of a payday are very happy with Hard taking up not one but two prime nights.
