26,000 at electric zoo

The promoters of Electric Zoo today are reporting that the two-event over Labor Day weekend in New York saw 26,000 customers. Organizers say 15,000 showed up Saturday and 11,000 were there Sunday. It was the festival's inaugural event. Mike Bindra and Laura de Palma, the folks behind the festival parent Made Events, issued a statement saying they "look forward to bringing it for many years to come."

Also in New York, Made Events presented Armin Van Buuren at a free party Saturday on Governor's Island. The island, by the way, was the subject of a fascinating profile in the New Yorker recently. When I read it, I was thinking, wow, the perfect place for a party. Apparently I wasn't the only one.
