The promoters of what is arguably Los Angeles' longest-running electronic dance night, Monday Social, recently moved to a new home after their base venue, Nacional, kicked them out in a move described as last-minute. Interestingly, they found new digs right around the corner, at Playhouse, which has ties to Nacional.
"We were left in the shitter on Friday with no venue," promoter Mick Cole (pictured above) wrote in an email to the blogga. "After some serious talks with the owners of the Playhouse venue we're moving into the hot new spot right next door to the Nacional ..."
The Los Angeles Times reports that one of the owners of Playhouse is a partner in a nightlife project that will takeover Nacional and the adjacent Holly's and turn them into a disco-themed venue to be called 77. I assume the ejection of of the Monday Social crew has something to do with the makeover. Playhouse is at 6506 Hollywood Blvd., Hollywood. Steve Porter is the guest on Monday.
