Techno star Damian Lazarus is getting ready to unleash his debut artist album, Smoke the Monster Out, June 1 via Booka Shade's Get Physical label. The album has piano, vocals and other not-so-minimal elements, as a proper artist album should. But Lazarus has also enlisted the help of L.A. techno producer Kenneth James Gibson, better known as [a]pendics.shuffle, to remix it for Lazarus' forthcoming live tour - so that the material would fit in better with an up-tempo, DJ-like program.
Englishman Lazarus is the founder of the Crosstown Rebels label and moved to Los Angeles last year as the city experienced the birth of a techno renaissance. He has an imprint, Parkside Rebels, where he'll be releasing leftfield and non-dance material.
