coachella previewed: m.i.s., more

In today's OC Weekly I catch up with Camilo Lara, a.k.a. Mexican Institute of Sound, the head of EMI in Mexico who has made a side industry of his sampladelic stylings under the M.I.S. moniker. His latest, Soy Sauce, is out this month and includes an irreverant cover of "Bittersweet Symphony," done mariachi-style. M.I.S. performs with turntables and a band Sunday, April 19 at Coachella and on April 20 live on KCRW's (89.9 FM) Morning Becomes Eclectic at 11:15 a.m. PST.

Also, Los Angeles Times pop critic Ann Powers has her "must-see acts" for this year's festival.
