ableton live and serato scratch join forces

Ableton Live, the digital music performance program embraced by the likes of Sasha and Richie Hawtin, and Serato Scratch, the digital-DJ, vinyl-simulation program used by just about everyone else, are joining forces. Apparently the idea is give users the best of both worlds -- Live's quick-at-the-trigger tracks, loops and effects, and Scratch's old-school-style turntable-based controllers. "Ableton has never had an answer for the DJ who wants vinyl control, and rather than try to emulate what Serato do so well, we simply make sure that our products work well together,” says Ableton CEO Gerhard Behles.
