-Authorities told E! Online that DJ AM (above) and drummer Travis Barker were shaken and injured when first-responders arrived on the scene of that deadly Learjet accident in South Carolina over the weekend that claimed four lives. "You could tell the DJ guy's hair was singed off and he had cuts on his face," said Lt. Josh Shumpert of the South Congaree Police Department in Columbia, S.C. Apparently the DJ and drummer, who had performed in Columbia together that night as TRVSDJAM, escaped the wreckage by exiting the right side of the jet and sliding down a wing. Authorities said the duo inquired about their friends and colleagues, but the rescuers reportedly responded that nothing could be done - the plane was ablaze.A South Carolina TV station reported that AM and Barker emerged aflame and were putting each other out when emergency crews arrived on scene late Friday. US Magazine reports that doctors purposely induced a coma for AM and were performing skin grafts. He and Barker were reported to be in critical condition but are expected to survive. Memorial funds have been established in the names of two of the deceased. More from the Los Angeles Times.
AM is perhaps best known for his liason with Nicole Richie, but he's also respected in the DJ community for being one of very few celeb-endorsed spinners who can actually spin with the best of them. In 2003, he spun during the grand opening of L.A. DJ haven Avalon Hollywood.
