dance music news: monday

-The establishment of the William Morris Electronic agency in association with Pete Tong (above) is already baring fruit: A WME-supported Tong is teaming up with concert promoter Live Nation to launch his "Insiders Music Series," which will take the form of an electronic music/DJ event at New York's Irving Plaza Oct. 24 - a date that coincides with the annual CMJ Music Festival in Manhattan.

Performing: Soulwax/2 Many DJs, Tong, James Lavelle, Luciano, Rob Da Bank, The Whip and Late of the Pier. Tix are on sale now.

-Speaking of New York events, reports in blogland state that the much-anticipated minitek festival hit a snafu and was essentially shut down on its first night by police concerned about overcrowding. The event was moved and later things reportedly got smoother.

-Washington, D.C.'s Morel, who has recorded for Deep Dish's Yoshitoshi label, has a two-disc album coming at you. The Death of the Paperboy hits retailers Nov. 4 via Outsider Music.
