-We're still waiting on last night's results from the annual America's Best DJ poll that's put together by DJ Times magazine. The winner was announced in Las Vegas. We'll let you know when we hear.-The West Beach Music & Arts Festival in Santa Barbara Sept. 12-14 has added a DJ "Oasis" with DJ Logic's Global Noize All-Stars, DJ Shift, Squeak E. Blean, DJ Quasar and more supplementing more mainstream talent on the main stage (Ziggy Marley et. al.). More info.
-Audio-visual mash-up DJ Mike Relm is unleashing his debut long-player, Spectacle, Sept. 23 via Radio Fryer Records. The album features contributions from Del The Funky Homosapien, Mr. Lif, Morningwood and more.
-Philadelphia electro-rock act The Model (pictured above) has a debut album, Physical, coming at you Nov. 18 via Playloop Records.
-Another electro-rock (or rather, as Alternative Press puts it, "arena-electro") debut is headed your way. This one's from Nottingham's Late of the Pier and it's called Fantasy Black Channel. Look out for it in January via Astralwerks.
-Nextaid, the dance-oriented nonprofit that benefits children orphaned by AIDS victims in Africa, announced today it's partnerning up with perennial ticket site Wantickets, where users can opt to give an extra buck to the cause. The group is also linking up with We-Care, where, similarly, visitors can chose to donate when they purchase items from the site.
-So-Me, the art director of Ed Banger Records (home of Justice), is one of many music-oriented artists (such as a member of Cut Copy) who will be featured in Scion Presents: The Art of Music, an art show kicking off Saturday in Culver City, California (3521 Helms Ave.) and staying planted there until late September. Info.
-The Los Angeles Times has a photo gallery of a massive dust storm that hit the annual Burning Man festival in Black Rock, Nevada over the weekend.
