This month Toolroom Records chief and Ministry of Sound resident Mark Knight (above) puts his own selection and mixing skills behind the label's successful Toolroom Knights mix-CD series. The two-disc release features house (Dennis Ferrer), progressive (Nic Fanciulli) and tech-house (Justin Drake). "I wanted to create a shortened edition of my epic main room sets at Ministry of Sound, building from very soulful to full-on techno," Knight says, "and with CD 2 give people a test of what's now and future on my label Toolroom."Knight DJs at Pacha New York Aug. 30.
Meanwhile BBC Radio 1's Dave Spoon gets his own version, Toolroom Knights Mixed By Dave Spoon, due sometime in August. It's split into "minimal electro" "Main Room" and more-experimental "Basement" discs.
