"Jason (Blum) will continue to work under the Deepsky moniker, and will be releasing the last few tracks we did together on various labels before continuing on with Deepsky himself."
The New Mexico-bred, Los Angeles-based duo has been responsible for bringing progressive dance music to the stage, rock-band style, and for helping to break domestic trance in the mid- to late-90s, with its first releases coming out on the legendary Fragrant label. Deepsky soon became go-to remixers, with two Madonna rerubs that went No. 1 on the dance charts. In the last few years it was believed that the duo was shopping an album to various labels -- but apparently hadn't struck a satisfactory deal. As y'all know, the dance music terrain is changing as fast as the technology that drives it, and Giaquinta wants to evolve beyond the dancefloor:
"As rave culture enters its twilight and clubbers become jaded by mountains of listless deep-prog-idm-breakcore tunes, the party-going public has subconsciously clamored for something fresh and exciting," Giaquinta states. "With shrinking event attendance, drooping CD and record sales, and a palpable malaise about club nights once considered massive, enter Summer Channel."
